5 things learned in the 1st week of using systeme.io

Last week Clear Your Cache launched. After comparing different all-in-one platforms – Podia, Squarespace, Gumroad, Wix, WordPress, etc. – for online course creation, blogging, and selling digital products, Clear Your Cache chose systeme.io and built its website. Here are five things learned during the first week of using it.

  • Setting up a website on systeme.io is straightforward if you’ve set up a simple website on Bluehost or an all-in-one platform similar to systeme.io, such as Podia. If you know what you want to set up – for example, a blog, email signup forms, a “contact us form,” recent posts – figuring out how to do it in the systeme.io UI is usually pretty easy. If you do have any trouble setting up something, their documentation is clear, and their customer service is responsive and helpful.
  • Issues with pushing saved changes to production on the header or footer can be resolved by removing the blog layout and then applying it again. This was discovered because there was an issue with saving changes to the footer. The systeme.io “Blog” editor showed that it had saved the changes, and exiting the editor and coming back confirmed that the updated content was still there. However, even though the footer was published, it did not appear in production on Clear Your Cache’s website. What fixed the issue was going to the “Pages” section of “Blogs” within systeme.io, clicking on the three dots next to the homepage, and selecting “Don’t use blog layout.” Selecting this was unnerving at first because it sounded like the entire layout of the homepage would be deleted by making this choice, and then how could we retrieve it? Luckily the answer was: very easily! Selecting “Don’t use blog layout,” waiting a few seconds, and then clicking on the three dots again and selecting “Use blog layout” did the trick. The changes were now reflected in production!
  • System.io's customer service is responsive and helpful. When a few issues were encountered during setup, Clear Your Cache submitted an inquiry via systeme.io’s form and received a reply with helpful information and suggestions in fewer than four hours.
  • There are two main places you can add Google Analytics code to your site on systeme.io: In the “Edit header code” section of the blog layout or in the “Settings → Sales Funnels” portion of your systeme.io account. Systeme.io notes that if you enter it in the “Sales Funnels” sections, it will be applied to sales funnel pages only and not blogs. “Blogs” in systeme.io language refers to pages, categories, and posts on your website rather than only the articles of an actual blog.
  • The “Complete your profile” pop-up message at the top of the screen kept appearing even after the required profile information was filled out. It continued to appear even after the non-required information was filled out but eventually stopped being displayed, so it seems that the update just took more time than usual to take hold.

Overall, setting up on systeme.io has been a good experience. In one week, Clear Your Cache has:

  • Set up and hosted its website using systeme.io
  • Connected a payment gateway within the systeme.io dashboard
  • Created a blog that will be used to share how-tos and other helpful information with analytics consultants
  • Created email signup forms and a welcome email through systeme.io’s workflow and email features.

Clear Your Cache looks forward to what is next in its business journey!
